Growing your business can be very rewarding, but there are certain tasks that are not so fun (we’re looking at you, taxes and bookkeeping). On the other hand, some essential investments for your business can be quite fun such as…brand photography! Well, we sure hope this is something fun on your list!
Whether you're a small start-up or a well-established company, planning a brand photography session is a smart investment that can set you apart from your competitors. However, if you haven’t done it before, or it’s been a while, it might feel like a lot of work!
We’re here to help! We LOVE getting to know our brand photography clients and creating a custom session around their business and goals. Here’s a recent brand photography session we did.
Here are some steps to consider to help you get the most out of your brand photography session.
Define Your Goals and Objectives
Before you dive into contacting us for a brand photography session, it's important to have a clear understanding of your goals and objectives. What message do you want your images to convey? Are you launching a new product, showcasing your team, or simply refreshing your website and social media content? Defining your objectives will help guide us to what’s most important to you during the session. When you call us, we’ll ask you about these! If you don’t know or need help figuring this out, we can help you with this part of the process.
Schedule the Session
Now that you feel good about your goals for the session, now it’s time to coordinate with us to establish a date and time that works. Ensure that everyone involved, including team members, is available and prepared for the session. Plan for any potential weather-related issues if you are planning on shooting outdoors. If you need location ideas, please ask us! We can use our studio or your physical space, or some combination. It’s what will work best for your brand.
Identify and Communicate Your Brand's Style
Your brand photography should be consistent with your brand's style and values. This includes aspects like color schemes, visual elements, and the overall mood you want to convey. If you have a brand style guide, it will be a valuable reference for us and you. We’ll ask you about this during our session prep, but if you don’t have any of this, don’t stress because we can help you with this part.
Plan Your Shot List
Do you have specific shots you want captured, such as the interior or exterior of the building, products, or the team, or lifestyle-type images? We’ve had clients create a specific shot list with images they need for the website or social media.
Shot List Ideas
- holding a phone
- talking on the phone
- working on a laptop
- talking to a customer
- hanging decor
- straightening a picture
- …the list goes on!
There are so many different poses and ideas depending on your business! We will work with you to create the type of shots you want, but having some ideas ready helps!
